As with all dinnerware, many of the buyers are individuals who are enhancing or replacing broken pieces of an inherited set. Homer Laughlin introduced Fiesta, designed by Rhead, in 1936, phasing out the line in 1973. New colors were used, and pieces were dishwasher safe and microwavable. Harlequin arrived on the scene in 1938, and a less expensive alternative to Fiesta was made and sold in Woolworth’s. It has a distinctive triple scalloped edge. Riviera production ended near the end of 1948 or early 1949.

I bought them from an elder woman, and she had said the had them for about 30 years. I have thought about selling them, but I have no idea what to price each piece at.

The company excelled at the Centennial Exposition of 1876 in Philadelphia where they were recognized with an award for the best white-ware on display. In 1879, Shakespeare sold his interest in the pottery to his brother, and Homer ran the business for more than two decades until he eventually sold it to a group of investors. The company’s then-bookkeeper William E. Wells along with Louis Aaron and his sons, Charles and Marcus, assumed ownership in 1897. I know its a bit rare, but I was wondering if you knew anything about this one.

When did these come out and what are they worth? I also have what I would call a carafe, clear glass with stripes around the bottom half in the same colors as the glasses. Fiesta obviously does not call this a carafe as I can find NOTHING about these. It looks like carafes used for juice or wine, about inches tall. These all have the fiesta name on them, and I don’t doubt their authenticity, I would just like to know their value, if higher than original. I have yet to see another one for sale – can you tell me its value?

Virginia Rose – The name Virginia Rose refers to a shape rather than a pattern. Many different decals decorated these elegantly shaped blanks, some of which featured roses and other flowers such as the Armand, Moss Rose, and Fluffy Rose patterns.
